Hi, Here is the second in the series of disappearing block quilts. This one is also a Disappearing Hourglass which my workshop students named “Confetti”. The quilt here 45″ X 45″ and is made of twenty-five 9″ finished blocks, arranged 5 across by 5 down. I used 1 yard each of the red and blue fabric and 1 1/2 yards of the white. These measurements don’t include binding or backing.

I made this with 6″ squares of fabric which I turned into 5 1/2″ Half Square Triangles (HST).
I used 3 different colors. Red and Blue as the primary colors and White as the background fabric. For this quilt you will need 25 squares of primary 1 (red) and 25 squares of primary 2 (blue) and 50 squares of background (white).
If you want to make different sized blocks use the chart on my website: https://questioningquilter.com/chart.
Sew these HST’s into an hourglass block as shown here.

Make a cut 1 3/4” from the center seam. Turn the mat 90 degrees and make another cut the same distance from the center seam. Do this until you have 4 cuts.

Do this until you have a total of 4 cuts like this. You will now have 9 sub-blocks.

Rotate the 4 corners 90 Degrees and trade blocks 4 and 6 as shown above.

Sew the 9 Sub-Blocks together to get what I call the Crystal Block.

Take 4 blocks and rotate them so that the dark corners are all together.

This is how they look as they are sewn together.

Here is the Confetti Quilt with just 2 colors

Here is the Confetti Quilt in Red, White and Blue.
I have told all of you that this newsletter is free, but in place of payment, I was hoping for some opinions.
Several people have suggested that I create YouTube videos to go along with these patterns.
Right now, only subscribers to this newsletter get these free patterns, would you feel that an associated YouTube video would be an added benefit? Or, would you feel like you are getting less value because anyone could watch the video? If I did make such a video, would you watch it and/or subscribe to my videos?
Finally, would you prefer a short video (maybe 5 min) with just the basic steps, or a video showing me making the entire quilt top (speeded up of course) (maybe 20 minutes)?
I have another Disappearing Hourglass Quilt planned for next month then I think I will switch to a Disappearing Pinwheel.
I currently have over 500 different disappearing quilt designs and find more every week. Iam hoping to eventually create a book with the best of these. My idea is to get you “hooked” on disappearing quilts so that you will be eager to buy my book when it comes out. Until then, please enjoy these patterns an share with me any quilts you make with them. Also, share this with your friends and invite them to subscribe.
Happy Quilting,
Brita

How do I get the pattern confetti? I get news letter when I try to print it?
Hi Ann,
The newsletter contains the pattern. I haven’t gotten around to pulling the pattern information out of all the older newsletters for a stand-alone .pdf, but all of the information is in there.
I hope that you are enjoying the free newsletter and free patterns. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

How do I get on the newsletter distribution list?
carolhall@aol.com
There is a small form on most pages of my website. First there is a check box saying “I am not a robot” and under that is a place to put your email address. I have added your email to the list for you so you don’t have to worry. You should have gotten a confirmation email, please check to be sure it didn’t go in your spam folder. I only send out a newsletter every 6 or 8 weeks so don’t be surprised if you don’t get one for a while. My Disappearing 4-Patch just came out.
I’ve seen a number of Dissappearing blocks, but this one is so unique. Love it
Do you have any printed patterns of your pinwheel design s, I’m fascinated with them and how you put them together. Not to mention the quilt always turns out gorgeous. Would like to try some of your pinwheels. Thanks.
Hi Karen,
I have printable patterns for most of the designs that I have shown on YouTube. To get these, you can sign up for my newsletter on any page of my website. The confirmation email will have a link to my newsletter archive. Each newsletter includes a free pattern.
I also have a Disappearing Sampler patter available for sale on my website. https://questioningquilter.com/shop
Let me know if you have any difficulty getting to these patterns,
Brita
