  1. I have followed the directions for the Windmills in the Garden. I am ready to start sewing the blocks together but I can’t figure out how to do that without cutting off the tips of the pinwheels. Right now there is a scant 1/8 inch beyond the tips of the windmills. Can you help me?

    • When the tip of a pinwheel is less than 1/4″ from the edge of a block it is usually one of two things.

      1) The diagonal seam of the Half Square Triangle isn’t exactly in the corner of the block. If it is off by even a little bit, it can cause the pinwheel to be off. This is the most common issue.

      2) The seam isn’t 1/4″ all the way along the edge of the block. Sometimes, the block will move a little bit when getting to the end of the seam. If the block has turned and seam has moved closer to the edge it will make the tip of the pinwheel closer to the edge of the block. Fortunately this is the easiest to fix. You can take the block back to the machine and re-sew from the last place it was 1/4″ to the end of the block. You don’t even have to rip out the old stitching.

I also sent you an email from my personal account (the one from questioningquilter.com got bounced by your mail server for looking like spam). Let me know is there is anything else I can do to help.

  2. Brita – I must be missing something….I would like to buy the 3-D pattern but am unable to figure out how! I added it to the cart but now can not find the cart!!!!! Help would be appreciated. I did see one could put in “YOU TUBE” for 10% off (any help is always appreciated!) but I’m stuck – WHERE is my cart?????

    • I am sorry you had trouble finding the shopping cart. I don’t have a lot of control over the interface and it is different than a lot of shopping sites, so it can be confusing.

After you click “Add To Cart” a little link will appear below the button that says “View Cart”. Click on this link and you will go to the checkout page.

Let me know if you are still having problems.

  3. disappearing hourglass confetti… error…after the 4 cuts… you neglect to point out that the 2 middle blocks to the left and right of the 4 patch… have to be switched and rotated so the points are towards the 4 patch…your instructions on show to rotate the corner squares.
what a job figuring that out…
but.. a great pattern… you have to pay attention… or you do alot of ripping

  4. I took your class on February 3 with the Ohio Valley Quilt Guild. Would you please send me the corrected disappearing hourglass extra patterns. I assuming that the disappearing pinwheels patterns are correct.
Thank you so much, I really enjoyed your class. You are an excellent teacher.

  5. your Socket Wrench quilt from your disappearing 4-Patch is actually reminiscent of the stepped symbols for clouds in many southwestern cultures. If you did that same quilt in alternating sand/brown and sand/turquoise you would be right on.
